"I am working full-time during the day. I don't have time to build iOS apps"
This is the main reason why developers don't develop their apps.
After a work day, there is no place to continue at home. It's expected to be mentally exhausted and want to spend time other than coding. Developers have all the reasons not to keep working at night and in the morning.
It is understandable. I was also in the same situation. Spending family time, practicing sports activities, reading books, and playing video games are some of the priorities for preparing for the next workday.
However, those situations make some exciting opportunities inaccessible.
Here is what I would do to ship apps during a 9-5 job.
Itâs about working smarter, not harder. You can leverage your precious evening hours for something that doesnât just pass the time but paves the way for future passive income.
It sounds too good to be trueâbecause it often is, without the right tools and mindset.
The Hidden Hours
Between your day job and sleep, a slice of time exists. For many, this time is lost to leisure and rest. Substantial, yet, could some of this time turn your side projects into profit-making machines? Absolutely.
A week of 4 days of work allows you to gain extra time for your side project without leaving your full-time job. You can build apps and gain your first users with this extra day.
Working remotely will save you time too. Removing transport time is an excellent way to make progress on your project.
Finally, starting full-time as an app maker will activate your survival mode due to the urgency of earning income (with savings in your bank accounts). This can be a significant factor in creating profitable projects.
I still don't have time
The truth is, the main barrier to developing your iOS app isnât lack of time. Itâs not knowing how to optimize the limited time you have. The real enemy? Inefficient development processes that swallow your precious hours whole.
Trying to reinvent the wheel each time sitting down to work on a project. Thatâs time not spent coding but troubleshooting, problem-solving, and sometimes, just staring at the screen. You think youâre saving money by not investing in resources, but what youâre doing is paying with something far more valuableâyour time.
Blank Project
Do you know the blank page syndrome for writers?
It's a situation where a person, in front of a blank page, is not inspired to start writing. Therefore, it stays in front of that page for long hours, searching for genius lightning to make the move.
Apply this concept to developers. With a blank project, there is nothing and everything to develop. Not starting with a small code base project could save precious time.
The Solution: Boilerplate
What if I told you thereâs a way to bypass the common roadblocks of app development? A boilerplate is a code base that lets you start your project immediately, eliminating the blank project time loss.
Remember, making your app available earlier to users means you can find product market fit, feedback, and engagements. Otherwise, all of your efforts will be in vain.
Don't spend time developing for 1, 3, or even 6 months. You will miss the essential. App-making isn't only about writing code. As I said in a previous post, if I should start over, 40% of my time will be dedicated to code and 60% to marketing, promotion, and user acquisition. Marketing is one of the most challenging walls for developers, but it is also the opportunity to connect with users and fans of your apps.
Ship Faster, Start Sooner
Imagine slashing the development time of your app by half or more. Think of the headaches youâd avoid with pre-made solutions to common development challenges. Thatâs what my boilerplate offers. Itâs the combined knowledge and solutions crafted into a ready-to-use package for iOS developers like you.
This is your ticket to finally bringing those app ideas to lifeâwithout sacrificing your job, family time, or hobbies. Itâs about adding value to your evening hours, turning them from idle time to a powerhouse of productivity and, eventually, profit.
Don't let "I don't have time" be the barrier between you and your app development dreams. Those evening hours can become the most profitable part of your day with the right tools and mindset.
Start now. The only thing youâll regret is not starting sooner.
